Mumbai, October 28, 2025 – Automobile giant Tata Motors is making a highly-anticipated comeback to the two-wheeler segment, a move set to disrupt the fiercely competitive commuter motorcycle market in India. Leveraging its reputation for durability, affordability, and value, the company has reportedly unveiled plans for a new line of commuter bikes, spearheaded by the Tata 125CC Bike and the retro-styled Tata Classic 110 and Classic 125 models.

The launch signifies Tata’s strategic expansion beyond its dominance in four-wheelers and commercial vehicles, directly challenging established players like Hero, Honda, and Bajaj in the high-volume 100cc to 125cc segments.


🏍️ The New Commuter Kings: Performance Meets Practicality

The initial focus is on the commuter segment, prioritizing superior mileage and a value-for-money proposition, which is crucial for Indian mass-market buyers.

Key Highlights of the New Lineup:

  • Tata 125CC Bike (Neo-Retro Design): Positioned as a modern commuter, this model features a newly developed 124.7 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It is engineered to produce around 11.5 bhp and 11 Nm of torque. Variants are expected to feature modern amenities like disc brakes, a digital-analog console, and USB charging.
  • Tata Classic 110 & Classic 125 (Retro Styling): These models aim to blend nostalgic design with modern technology. They are expected to feature round headlamps, a metallic body, and a focus on record-breaking fuel efficiency, with reports suggesting mileage figures as high as 70-85 km/l under optimal conditions.
  • Pricing & Launch: The new bikes are anticipated to be aggressively priced, with the 125cc models starting around ₹78,000 to ₹91,499 (ex-showroom). The launch and subsequent nationwide availability are expected to roll out starting in the first half of 2026.

⚡ Eye on the Electric Horizon

In line with the company’s leadership in the four-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) space (with models like the Nexon EV), Tata is also strongly rumored to be developing an Electric Bike. This move is expected to leverage Tata’s existing EV ecosystem and technology.

The proposed electric motorcycle is rumored to offer a competitive riding range, potentially up to 150-180 km on a single charge, and an aggressive price point to disrupt the growing electric two-wheeler market. This dual strategy—launching both highly-efficient Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) bikes and an Electric Bike—positions Tata uniquely to cater to the traditional and emerging segments of the mobility market.

Tata Motors is expected to manufacture these new motorcycles at its facilities, possibly the Pune plant, aligning with the “Made in India” initiative.
